Current Job Position Title:
68J (Medical Logistics Specialist) and Fruit Consultant/ Driver

Company Name (optional):
US Army Reserve, Edible Arrangements

Special skills:
For the military job, being physically fit and knowing the qualifications of what I do. For Edible, I know how the arrangement goes and what is needed to meet the goals of the day, week, or month.

Describe your job story:
Well, for the military I just went and signed up. To find your job in the military, you take the ASVAB, which is a job placement test. They give you a list of jobs to choose from and then you get ready to go off to basic training. That’s a lot of working out and discipline lessons and shooting lessons. You have tests but they are more physical than knowledge tests. You are tested on leadership also. With Edible Arrangements, the owner found me at my old job and he asked me to come in and work for him. I build arrangements and help customers to decide which arrangement is best for them, I also deliver from time to time.

What did you want to be when you were a child/ teenager?
I wanted to be in the military and be a nurse.

Are doing your dream job?
Not fully, but it is still a work in progress. I am actually back in school for a degree in business with a focus in health care management.

What do you like MOST about what you do?
I am helping people, but rather it is fighting to protect or just to make someone’s day.

What do you like the LEAST?
Everyone does not appreciate what I do and they think it’s dumb, but I have learned that everyone has his or her own opinion. So you have to just let negativity in one ear and out the other.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I plan to have returned home from my deployment, no longer working at Edible, but working for in the VA hospital.

Are you happy with where you are in life?
Most of the time I am, but I have my days when I feel I should have done all this in the beginning. There are always worst things, though.

What more do you want to do with your life?
I want to become a wife and a mother. Have lifestyles that so that my children won't have to suffer.

What drives/motivates you?
My family and the things I want for my future.

What else do you do?
I have school online.

What is your advice to those who are seeking employment and have no hope?
There is always hope. You just have to know that you can never give up. You have to keep looking. Ten people might tell you no but it could be that eleventh person that hires you. Also you cant be picky. That wont get you very far at all. Take what you can get for now and build on it. Just don't get comfortable in the life that you are in. Always strive to be better than you were the day before. My goal each year is not to be in the same situation I was the previous year. Sometimes it might require you to take a step back. But, hey, sometimes God wants us to take a step back so we can make two steps forward.

  1. Love the comment about taking a step back so we can take two steps forward. That's what God wants for us, more than we could ever ask or think.
