Describe your job story:
I've always loved libraries. I stayed in them in high school and in college.  I was working as an aid in a community college Learning Support Lab when the librarian there told me that I had all the hallmarks of a good librarian--good researcher, good customer service, well read etc.  She told me I should apply for library school and for a scholarship that she knew about.  I applied  and got accepted and I got the scholarship. I finished my Master's in Library Science in 2010. I've been working in public libraries for 8 years doing everything from coordinating ongoing programs, working with volunteers, creating partnerships,  doing outreach, fund raising, collection development and more.

What did you want to be when you were a child/ teenager?
I wanted to be a writer.

Are doing your dream job?
Some days yes. Some days not so much.

What do you like MOST about what you do? What do you like the LEAST?
I like doing work that makes an impact like providing homework help or ESL,  Adult Literacy or job/career services.  I also like creative work like coming up with programs and partnering with others in the community. I like the administrative stuff the least, ordering supplies etc.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? I'd like to be working in an academic setting, either collegiate or secondary school level.

Are you happy with where you are in life?
Always grateful but never complacent. Always reaching for the next level.

What more do you want to do with your life?
I want to travel and provide support and assistance to the underserved in other countries.

What drives/motivates you?
Being an inspiration to my children motivates me.  Making my parents proud motivates me. Exceeding my own expectaions motivates me.

What else do you do?
I'm a mother. I'm back in school getting another Masters in Instructional Technology and design.  I'm a cinema-phile determined to watch every film Roger Ebert ever reviewed.  I volunteer with a small private school as a curriculum development specialist.

What is your advice to those who are seeking employment and have no hope?
Do something everyday to build your personal brand and resume. Volunteer. Intern. Find free online classes and take those. Create a vision board focused on the career you want and claim that victory!
