Describe your job story:
I started out Working for Blockbuster, I worked my way up to management for about a year and then my whole management team was fired by our new District Manager who wanted to clean house. I then started working for Enterprise Rent A Car. They hired me as a Car Wash Tech because I did not have a degree. I was making $7.25 an hour. I could not understand why I needed a degree to rent cars to people and make sure there were no dents in the vehicles upon return. Car wash techs are looked down upon as they make 3 dollars less then what they make in the office($10hr). I knew this was a temporary situation and I knew I wanted better for myself. I signed up with a temp agency and went on interviews often, but nothing promising resulted. I then had a college tell me about Fundtech and a technical position they had open.
I have a pretty good computer background, I was building computers and setting up Networks since I was 12 years old. So I knew this would be a walk in the park for me. My college told about some of the programs that I would need to know to get the position, so I did research and got a quick and basic understanding of all the applications that I needed to know. When I forwarded my Resume, I used my uncles company and listed job responsibilities that were similar to that of what I would be doing on this new Job. When I got my first Interview...I NAILED IT.
My college called me later that day and said "I don't know what you told them but they loved you". They told me how much the Job pay was and it was almost 4 times what I was making at E-RAC. The company wanted to Fax the Offer Letter for me to sign but I did not have a fax machine, So I did the next best thing. I had HR Fax the Offer letter to Enterprise which listed my new salary. Then I called the Office Manager at enterprise and had her read it aloud over the phone to let them know how much I would be making. This was not to brag about my new salary, but to show them that I was better than washing a car. When I came to the office to pick up my Offer Letter, I was no longer treated like a Car Wash Tech. Everyone instead wanted to know how in the world did I get this job.
