"Tree Widow" Movie Premier - Black Woman in Film (Review)

The attached photos include black people who are attracted to both trees as well as the movie title, TREE WIDOW. If it had not amused us, we would not have showed up in such a great number! We crave freshness in film. The fact that Rev. Newman's movie is independent and written and produced by a black woman is all the more reason why we came to support!

The movie depicts a woman who promotes celibacy and sexual abstinence before marriage. This is a very significant issue in today's society. The theme is relevant. We live in a world that promotes living in the opposite ways of the Bible. The Bible teaches that we ought to be holy and share our bodies with our spouse only...but the world is manipulating and causes many people to disobey His word.

Tree Widow is both intriguing as well as convicting for its ability to engage the viewer. Shortly after the film ended, Rev. Newman invited the audience to give reviews. One woman timidly approached the front of room and faced the crowd. She had been moved to tears because she could relate to the scenes involving the characters' bitter and hateful mothers.

Tree Widow is electrifying and a must-see for all generations all over the world and not internationally only. I would watch it again and again and encourage others to do the same. It's life-changing.

I worked in corporate, I worked retail,  I taught pre-school, you name it. My decision to become a Realtor sort of came to me, and I am not quite sure how or why. I guess you could say it was divine intervention, but I spoke with people in the field, and knew I had skills that would help me do well. I had to make a lot of sacrifices, as many people do to get into the career they want, to get my real estate licensing and qualifications.  It's not an easy field, or for the faint, but I do it because I enjoy working with the many different families, and individuals that I do. It's a joy being apart of one of the biggest purchases some individuals will ever make. It's my job to make sure that they obtain knowledge, get the best deal, save money and are guided every step of the way. That is what motivates me to keep on. This is a 100% commission job, and not many people know  all that is involved financially, however because of this fact, it drives agents to get out there and work hard. Real estate is so interesting, and I love that its ever changing. I think this fact helps me with my success. What did you want to be when you were a child/ teenager?  A lot of things..lol. Fashion designer, Buyer, Business owner etc. Are doing your dream job?  I think my job has variables that point to my dream job, such as working in sales, working a flexible schedule, being out in the field as oppose to an actual cubical...but i think my dream job would include the previously mentioned points plus great financial stability, and the ability to travel to awesome countries. What do you like MOST about what you do? What do you like the LEAST?  What i like most is the interaction with some great people, a flexible schedule, and no office cubicles!! What I like least is the fickleness nature of the job, and that their are no absolutes when it comes to that check!! Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?  It is my goal in the next five years to continue selling real estate and doing a fabulous job at it.  I also see myself having my own business on the side, not quite sure what that will be, but I want it to be geared towards helping those who have no clue what they want to do in life. Are you happy with where you are in life?  I am not going to lie, there are highs and lows. I am thankful for where I am, because I remember where I was. I strive to continue to listen to God's voice and let him lead me. What more do you want to do with your life?  Everything!!! I love travel and I love helping people, and I want to get involved with things that include both of these. I keep a journal and I write out my goals, I continue to add to my goal list. Like reading more. One thing that i am currently working on is inventing something :) What drives/motivates you? I have a desire to leave a legacy, I am not sure where that desire comes from, but i really want to somehow leave behind a product, idea, or concept that helps make life better or more gratifying for others. What else do you do? I have hobbies and friends, and really have a young soul. I try to get out doors and enjoy the joys in life that are a blessing..people, nature, family and friends. What is your advice to those who are seeking employment and have no hope?  Since this is a blog, and I always think that people should be honest, I will say that even now being in my thirties I still haven't figured it all out [in terms of my career..or in any other area for that matter]. For those of you young people who are in high school, college, etc.. really do research, and don't be afraid to dabble in a bit of everything to figure out what it is you want to do. For those of you who know what you want to do, and have known for some time, I admire you. But the others...get internships, bug your college career center's to help you, study abroad, gain mentor-ships, network, shadow people who are in the career you are thinking of. All these things I am sure you have heard before, but the point is..DO IT!!! I did not do most of those things, and I think it adversely affected me. but it's never too late!

Are doing your dream job?

Somewhat, yes. But this is only the beginning. I'm able to shine in the limelight a little while inspiring people, but I'm in the process of making a bigger impact with my talents...just a matter of time and concentration.

What do you like MOST about what you do? What do you like the LEAST?

What I love most is the travel. Seeing all parts of this beautiful country. What I like least about my job is when they lose my luggage! Drives me crazy!

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In five years, I plan to continue being a spokesmodel, but as well a motivational speaker. Traveling to different countries and inspiring people to shine in their own skin.

Are you happy with where you are in life?

I am. I have a firm grip on what I like and don't like. The more I stay true to me, the more my blessings come my way.

What more do you want to do with your life?

Do more charity work. I'm building a nonprofit now called the Belles of Hope to promote breast cancer awareness, as well as prostate cancer awareness across L.A. First event we did was for the making strides of Santa Monica last October, and my team came up with $1600 plus in a little over three weeks! I was so proud. I have amazing friends and family!

What drives/motivates you? What drives me?

I'm driven by being the best I can be. And the best is not what everyone else thinks "best" is, it's what YOU think best is, for you. And the beauty in that is, is that you are forever growing and learning! So take your time, learn your craft, make mistakes... It's a part of your journey.

What else do you do?
I have a YouTube channel called MaegansWayinLA that I record weekly on with current tops and how-to's— my favorite thing to do right now ;)

What is your advice to those who are seeking employment and have no hope?
If you have to start at the bottom, then do it. Starting from the bottom builds character. It's shows a person that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything. Hey! My first job was Taco Bell in Talladega, Al, and look at me now! Being paid to speak across the country and be me!

   At the age of 17, I joined the Army. Cycling through my career, my accomplishments soared. At the age of 20, I had become a Staff Sergeant (E-6). From there my goals became broader for my military career and I set for those goals. However, at the age of 22, I received a medical retirement from the Army. The military was my life. My ambitions had been fragmented. 

   I parted the military with no direction. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I had a ton of ideas. After a while, my ideas were becoming tainted from my surroundings. One weekend, I took a trip to Atlanta with 2 of my closest friends. We got to see what all the hype was about. It was at that moment that I channeled my vision of becoming executive. One week later I packed my bags, started my car and hit the road with my nephew and cousin. We were all able to find jobs fairly quick. The 2 of them ended up going back to Baltimore. For me, to return back to that environment was not an option. 

    After they left, things became rougher for me, but my ambition was strong enough to keep me going. The income from my first business venture and part-time job couldn't pay the bills. I then began my "reconstruction phase." I had integrated my business with new ventures and ideas. This began my success train. I've always wanted to cater a business that gross' six-figures annually. Here I am today, at age 25 a entrepreneur looking to set the standard for my son to follow and soar beyond. 

What did you want to be when you were a child/ teenager? 

I had 2 career goals as a child. 

1) Join the military and become the best NCO that I could be.

2) Become a multi-entrepreneur 

Are doing your dream job? 

Being an entrepreneur was my 1st dream. Yes, this is my dream job. 

What do you like MOST about what you do? What do you like the LEAST? 

The most fulfilling part of being an entrepreneur is being the boss. Knowing that I set the playing field is an awesome feeling. Wouldn't say that I like it least, but the long days along with the revolving door of issues can be overwhelming at times.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? 

2020, I'll be 31! I'm looking forward to settling into my career. My ground work would be set. Settling into my first years of marriage (Hopefully). Humbling myself as a father, husband and entrepreneur. Able to put my life on cruise control and set sail. 

  

Are you happy with where you are in life? 

An unhappy life is what drove me to part Baltimore and start a new chapter here in Atlanta. I come from a city full of lions where everyone is fighting to be king. My ambition has kept me from becoming prey. So yes, I'm extremely happy with the life path that I have set before me, and where I am today. 

What more do you want to do with your life? 

I want for my story of courage, commitment and ambition to reach the souls of today's troubled youth in hopes to alter that negative path and tailor tomorrow's leaders with a positive mindset. I want to be a positive inspiration. 

What drives/motivates you? 

Accomplishment! I love to set goals and reach them. That makes me want more. I thrive from my own ambition. 

What else do you do? 

Outside of work and school, I cater to my hobbies. I love to paint, travel and learn new things about the world. 

What is your advice to those who are seeking employment and have no hope? 

Create a realistic plan that will allow you to set gradual steps to your final goal. Be ambitious and courageous enough to step outside of your normal setting and snatch that goal. Find a positive within your search. Use that as leverage and motivation.

Dancing When No One Is Watching...In Your Own World

Don't forget that you were born original. There can never be another you...only a replica.

I am thinking about impersonators and how many of them work feverishly to look like someone whom they admire. They undergo numerous surgeries, get odd jobs to purchase new clothing/jewelry, and take pills to change their voices. They do whatever it takes to look, sound, feel, vibe, walk, be, and exist as someone that they're not. Why do they do this? They are simply working to achieve another identity outside their own.

In your case...

You may be faced with not knowing who you truly are.

Life can be confusing, but I urge you to get to know you. Get to know your likes, dislikes, flaws, and perfections. What's your favorite color? Do you have a favorite food? What are your hobbies? What makes you different from other people?

Go back to the days when you were in elementary school and you didn't really care what others thought of you. You were new to everything around you and you felt comfortable in your own skin. If you didn't feel this way as a child, think of the earliest time that you did not care what others thought of you. You danced when no one was watching. You smiled outside the window. You admired your smile. You loved your body.

Don't forget that you were born original.

You were created with only one you.

There can only be clones.

There can only be duplicates.

Be original.

BE YOU. 

The World Is Showing Its True and Ugly Colors: Michael Brown Case, Islamic State, Syria...

I made it clear in a Facebook video that the world is showing its truest and ugly colors. Reminds me of a rotting fruit. From the outside, the world is beautiful. The blue, green, white cup illuminate the globe like an orange wrapped in paint. Earth appears perfect from the outside, but most people know that nothing is perfect (or new) under the sun.  

There ARE blotches and flaws.

The world seems to be spiraling downward. The news online, in print, and on television cannot be published without word of war or turmoil. Americans are mostly used to wars occurring overseas, but we are also experiencing war on our own soil. 

Just recently, Michael Brown, an 18-year-old rising college freshman, was buried after being shot to death by an cop who accused him of robbery and other accusations. Evidence showed that the young man was unarmed and wrongfully murdered, but there has been no justice with the officer who shot him. Then there's the war in Syria with the so-called Islamic State (formerly called ISIS) who has been taking over parts of Syria and Iraq. Countless Christians and other religious groups have been persecuted and beheading for not "converting to Islam, leaving, or paying a tax," which were the three options given to those who the terrorist group confronted. Many have fled to the mountains and other areas in terror and fear. On another note, there is discord between other countries all for various reasons. War within, against, and outside the USA. Could things get any worse?

Earth is like a rotting fruit sometimes.

In a matter of time, it will disintegrate into nothingness. It doesn't have to. If more of the world turned from their wicked ways and acknowledged that Jesus Christ is Lord, we can be delivered. If people would repent from their evil ways--just stop sinning--this world could truly be a better place. The Lord gave clear instructions in 2 Chronicles 7:14, 

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

It starts with me. It starts with you. 

Be informed. Read the news. Pray.
