We All Have the Burning Desire to Do Something

My grandma told me that sometimes we find ourselves wanting to do so much that we end up doing nothing at all. We have the burning desire to make something—anything—happen, but we don’t know where to start. So, we start nowhere.

This is a horrible habit of mine. I have great zeal when inspiration comes. I get excited about accomplishing certain goals or milestones. However, I am often left with that zeal. For instance, I will tell someone my plans for the day and all that I plan to do. I would have high energy and motivation to get all the mentioned tasks done, but at the end of the day, sometimes I will have accomplished one task. There have even been instances where I wanted to socialize with friends. I would reunite with someone that I hadn’t seen for years, give a suggestion that “we should hang out,” and the opportunity presented itself in the form of an invite, I would clam up and go back into my loner shell.

I wasn’t always a loner. I became one when I moved to Buffalo, NY, for grad school. Because I moved to a place where no one really knew my name, I was forced to sit back and observe the people before revealing my social butterfly personality. I slowly made friends and was able to “be myself,” but that took a while. Before then, I focused on being safe and going to school. I didn’t know where anything was. I gained a closer relationship with the Lord, nevertheless, but I learned to simply enjoy my own company. This was different for me because I was very social in my hometown.

Be careful wanting to do something so badly that nothing is produced. Be careful of wanting to write a book and not writing a book at all. You will find yourself wasting years of productivity from desire. Desire doesn’t get developed if there is no determination or effort behind it. Dreams die when no life is given to them. Notice how I said given. It takes effort to give anything.

At this point in my life, if there is anything that I want, whether big or small, I act on it. Even if I make tiny efforts to get it done, I do something. Right now, I want to write more, help others to get published more, motivate people more, and eat healthier. I still love to eat cookies and stuff my face with other sweets, but I make constant efforts to eat more vegetables than meat. For some reason, I am intrigued by vegans and vegetarians. They have such great energy. I’ve learned through research, observation, and experience that too much meat in the diet can weigh a person down and cause them to have low energy. So, I gave myself a goal of eating more vegetables, especially raw ones, to consume all the nutrients.

Enough about food, keep in mind that what you do for the Lord will last. There is no reason for you procrastinate on your life goals. If there is anything that you want to fulfill, make it happen and don’t worry about anything. The Lord created us to be fruitful in all our ways, not to be stagnant.

Out of zeal comes inspiration. Out of inspiration comes development. Out of development comes action.

Describe your job story:
I was born into music and given a great gift by God himself to be able to sing. I fell in love with music in the early 90's, discovered the power and influence of my gift and decided to push it to the next level! Due to the climate of the music industry and my influences, direct and indirect, I decided to start my own company and put out my own music. The music I wanted to make and hear, independently!

What did you want to be when you were a child/ teenager?
I wanted to be a Basketball Player, kinda still do!

Are doing your dream job?

I am, I can't lie... Basketball was my dream but God knew better then me where I needed to be!

What do you like MOST about what you do? What do you like the LEAST?
I love when my message is received how I intended it! I love being able to uplift and positively influence people and I love making a life doing what I do! I do not like the business of music, the egos and the back biting that tends to happen when money gets involved.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I see myself as a nationally and globally recognized musician and actor, making a good healthy consistent living from my art. I see myself developing other artists under my record label and having my hand successfully in other business ventures that extend beyond music!  I also see myself as a more influencing and serviceable figure in my family and community!

Are you happy with where you are in life?
As an artist, entrepreneur, and general go-getter I have to fight my mind every day to appreciate where I am and what I am doing!  There is always more you want to achieve but overall I am happy and I believe that is the key to progress and personal success. You have to celebrate every achievement along the way, not just the end game!

What more do you want to do with your life? EVERYTHING!!!
What drives/motivates you?
I want to put myself in a position to influence and help people. I want to give folks the opportunity to be as successful as I hope to become, AAAANNNNDD Honestly I want to make a lot of money, or at least a comfortable amount!

What else do you do?

Play Xbox, Hang out with my family, especially my kabillion nephews. Teach and motivate!

What is your advice to those who are seeking employment and have no hope?

Like the Great Donkey from Shrek says "You gotta Believe!" What was, is not what is and is not what will be!  Keep believing and working towards your goals!
